Contract proof
You can make a contract proof to get a good reproduction of the checked, print-ready PDF. When doing this it is important that the colour profile corresponds to the printing condition and the paper type that has been chosen for use. In addition, a Fogra Media Wedge version 3.0 should be placed outside the image on each proof. This makes it easy to check with a spectrophotometer whether the proof has been made within the ISO 12647-7 tolerances. This is the ISO standard for contract proofs that, among other things, describes the target colours and the permitted tolerances. An illustration of the Ugra/Fogra Media Wedge V3.0 is given below.

The Ugra/Fogra Media Wedge V3.0 replaces V2.1 and contains more colour patches. This makes it possible to determine more precisely whether all the colour variations in the contract proof correspond to the end product. Because of this we advise you to work with version 3. An illustration of the Ugra/Fogra Media Wedge V2.1 is given below.

If you don’t have the possibility of making a contract proof yourself we can provide this service for you of course. Our equipment is regularly calibrated and we check each proof.
Visual assessment
An evaluation light (D50) with a colour temperature of 5000 Kelvin in a colour neutral environment should be used for visually assessing the contract proof. This is easy to see with the Ugra metamerism strip. The strip has an even green colour under standard light while under different circumstances the patches will have alternating different colours. An illustration of the Ugra metamerism strip is given below. On the left is an illustration of the strip under standard light and the illustration on the right shows it under the incorrect light for assessment.

Metamerism is the phenomenon where two colours are the same when assessed visually and look different under a different light.
